Valentine’s Day on a Budget

We’ve all heard about the global credit crisis.  Whether you’ve been directly affected by it or think you should cut back just in case, here are some ideas to help you celebrate this year on a budget, or no budget at all.

  • Picnic in your lounge room.  Lay a picnic blanket on the floor, dim the lights, light some candles.  Lay out lots of pillows.  Enjoy a meal together.  Make sure it’s picnic food and feed each other some grapes or choc dipped strawberries for dessert.
  • Buy a bouquet of seasonal flowers – they are much cheaper than red roses.
  • Make your partners favourite dinner to celebrate and make sure you cook all their favourite sides.
  • Write a letter or a poem.  Tell your partner that this year you don’t want any gifts and that you should exchange letters instead.
  • Have an Italian night at home.  Light some candles, cook an easy pizza/pasta dinner together (making pizza dough from scratch is fun).  Put on some Italian music and enjoy a glass of Vino.
  • Meet your partner for a picnic at their work at lunchtime.
  • Place a flower on your partner’s pillow.
  • OR if you really have no idea – get yourself a case of Amnesia and claim you forgot all about it!!!

For those that still want to send a gift, we have put together a range of budget gifts this year . . .  because it’s the thought that counts and not how much you spend.

We encourage you to place your ideas in our comments so we can post your ideas on our blog.  Enjoy your day.
